Papers of Boris N. Levenet︠s︡, and of his wife E.N. Levenet︠s︡. Included is a typescript copy of Boris' diary of military action in Romania in the fall of 1916; a folder of copies of military telegrams and documents concerning the surrender of the Tallinn (Reval or Revel)́ fortress to the Germans in February 1918 (one of the telegrams, dated 20 February, is signed by Lenin and Trotsky); and E. N. Levenet︠s︡ memoirs, which are mostly typed and in French. The memoirs deal with her youth, World War I, the Civil War, and emigration in Egypt.

Papers consist of correspondence, manuscripts, documents, photographs, subject files, and printed materials. Malamuth translated such works as Trotsky's "Stalin" and Valentin Kataev's "Kvadratura kruga." After World War II, he worked successively for the American Joint Distribution Committee in Europe and the Middle East, the Voice of America, and Radio Liberty. These papers reflect many aspects of Malamuth's career. Among the correspondents are Max Eastman, Eugene Lyons, Adolphe Menjou, and Lev Trotsky. There are one or two items each from Ili︠́a︡ Erenburg, Evengiĭ Kataev, Anatoliĭ Lunacharskiĭ, Alekseĭ Tolstoĭ, and Evgeniĭ Zami︠a︡tin. Manuscripts include a signed typescript of Boris Pilńi︠a︡k's "Volga vpadaet v Kaspiĭskoe more," a film scenario by Viktor Shklovskiĭ, and plays by I︠U︡riĭ Olesha, Tolstoĭ, and Zami︠a︡tin. There are photographs of David Ben-Gurion, Bela Kun, Lev Kamenev, Vladimir Lenin, and Grigoriĭ Zinovév. There are also photographs from Soviet Russia ca. 1920, and some about the resettlement of the Adenese Jews to Israel. Subject files deal with the publication of Trotsky's "Stalin," the American Joint Distribution Committee, the Voice of America, and Radio Liberty.

The papers consist of correspondence, manuscripts, documents, photographs, and printed materials, chiefly concerning 1907-1917. They are particularly useful for the study of the second Russian State Duma (1907), the Russian Social Democratic School on Capri, the "Vpered" group of Social Democrats, the relationship between Maksim Gorḱiĭ and Leonid Andreev, and World War I. Russian Social Democratic correspondents include Aleksandr Bogdanov, Vladimir Lenin, Anatoliĭ Lunacharskiĭ, I︠U︡liĭ Martov, Georgiĭ Plekhanov, Mikhail Pokrovskiĭ, and Lev Trot︠s︡kiĭ. There are letters by such European socialists as Pablo Iglesias Posse, Karl Kautsky, Rosa Luxemburg, and Benito Mussolini, and a series of letters from Gorḱiĭ to Andreev (1899-1915). There is a large number of petitions ("nakazy" "proshenii︠a︡" etc.) sent by people to Aleksinskiĭ when he was a Duma delegate. Authors of manuscripts in the collection include Vicente Blasco Ibáñez, Gorḱiĭ, Lenin, and Lunacharskiĭ. Printed materials consist of Aleksinskiĭ's writings, issues of chiefly Russian emigre periodicals from 1908 to the 1960s, books by various persons, and ephemera.

Photocopies of four letters sent to Karl Hjalmar Branting. Three of the letters, dated 1901-1907, are from Lenin to Branting; one of these is also signed by Fedor Dan. The fourth letter (undated) is from Grigorii Zinov'ev. The originals of these letters are in the Archives of the Swedish Labor Movement.

Nearly all the manuscripts in the collection deal with 20th century Russian and Soviet politics. These include "Chekizm i chekisty," "The Cult of Stalin," "Marks-Lenin-Stalin," "Russkiĭ blankizm" and "Tekushchai︠a︡ sovet︠s︡kai︠a︡ propaganda o revizionizme i dialektike." There is a book-length manuscript entitled "V plenu -- Velikai︠a︡ chistka 1936-1939" and a transcript of a Radio Liberty interview with Shteppa in 1953. There is a lengthy curriculum vitae of Shteppa accompanied by several lists of his major publications. The printed materials include clippings, a number of published articles and booklets by Shteppa as well as a few other journals.

The collection contains correspondence, manuscripts, clippings, books and periodicals. There are two letters from Aleksandr Glazunov and one each from Aleksandr Grechaninov and Nikolaĭ Metner. The manuscripts deal with both cultural affairs and the Russian Revolution. Among the cultural topics are essays on music, Isadora Duncan, Maksim Gorḱiĭ and literary affairs. There are articles about general aspects of the Revolution and about such individuals as Lenin, Stalin, Chicherin, Dzerzhinskiĭ and Kamenev. Many of the articles are memoiristic in nature, particularly those about life in Moscow and in the provinces during the Revolution, Dzerzhinskiĭ and Kamenev. There are clippings of articles written by Sabaneev and a number of books and periodicals either written by Sabaneev or containing articles by him.
