The most substantial part of the collection is the extensive correspondence between Nien Cheng and June Rose Garrott (originals have been scanned onto discs). There are letters; WWW print-outs; email print-outs; artwork; audio cassettes; VHS tapes; DVDs; CDs; photographs; a scroll; a fan; printed ephemera; books; and a bust of Lao She.

Mitchell's corrected manuscripts and correspondence and notes pertaining to them. Personal correspondence, including some with her husband, Wesley Clair Mitchell, forms only a small part of the collection. Also, notes and letters related to various projects in which she was involved and two boxes of photographs and drawings.

The papers, which consist to a large extent of mimeographed and printed reports of various organizations with which Evans was affiliated, chronicle a wide range of his activities in the fields of law, international relations, and library service. The papers reflect Lindsay's various activities and are arranged in two sequences, an alphabetical name file and an alphabetical subject file. Since many of the subjects are closely related, the division between them is not always very sharp. Among the subjects covered are: social legislation, I.L.O., National Child Labor Committee, prohibition, labor, Republican National Committee, Institute for Social Research, League of Nations, humane legislation, housing, Harmon Foundation, Educational Radio Corporation, and the Bergh Foundation.
