Manuscript copies of letters written by Charles Armand Tuffin, Marquis de la Rouerie to George Washington and other military commanders, chiefly during General Armand's service in the Revolution. Most of the letters are to Washington, and General Scott. The correspondence relates to military affairs and tactics, and particularly to the status of the General and his troops within the Army. The copist is identified in several notes on the copies as what appears to be "J.S.MK."

Professional and personal correspondence, administrative records, manuscript lecture notes, and some miscellaneous printed materials. The general correspondence file, 1927-1958, contains letters, both personal and professional, with colleagues, with and about his students, about laboratory equipment, about weapons for the Army and Navy, and with industry concerning his research. The subject file, 1926-1960, contains some additional professional and personal correspondence, a number of administrative records on property control of laboratory equipment, particularly for government research projects, other Columbia Physics Department matters, several typescripts on cyclotron coil designs, Mitchell's personal records relating to employment, and other miscellaneous personal files. There are handwritten lecture notes for Mitchell's courses, the most complete being those for Physics R6 and General Studies Physics 18.

Larson's correspondence consists of professional correspondence relating to historical research; his work at the United States National Archives, including correspondence with Philip Hamer while preparing a special survey of archival materials in the U.S. Virgin Islands under a Works Progress Administration grant, 1936-1937; genealogical research; and personal correspondence with family and friends. Manuscripts by Larson relate to Alexander Hamilton, Bjørnson, Bjørnstjerne, Danish National Archives, archival research in the U. S. Virgin Islands, and the U.S. Army activities in Korea and in the Virgin Islands.
