Larissa Dmitrievna Zvereva Memoirs, 1913-1976

Two typed memoirs of Zvereva. The larger (49 p.) discusses her family, childhood, and youth up to the time she emigrated. She discusses in some detail rural life around the turn of the century, including her father's estate and the 1905 revolution in the area. The shorter memoir (6 p.) concerns the aftermath of the murder of King Alexander of Yugoslavia in 1934. Also included are a handdrawn diagram and a photograph of Zvereva's father's house.

Valentin Platonovich Zubov Manuscripts, 1850-1968

The collection includes V. P. Zubov's memoirs "Souvenirs de la revolution russe (1917-1925)"; Zubov's biography of Paul I "La fin de l'Empereur Paul". There is also the original manuscript of "Istoriia zhizni Ivana Iakubovskago" (ca. 1850) by Ivan Iakubovskii, and Zubov's foreword, comments and name index prepared for publication of the manuscript. There are two books and one offprint by Zubov in the collection: Zar Paul I: Mensch un Schicksal; Karlik favorita: Istoriia zhizni Ivana Iakubovskogo; and a portion of Zubov's memoirs about the Institut istorii iskusstv, from almanac "Mosty".

Mikhail Mikhailovich Zolotarev Papers, 1879-1950

Correspondence, manuscripts, documents, photographs, subject files and printed materials of Zolotarev. The correspondence includes letters from Petr P. I︠U︡renev, Aleksandr I. Konovalov, and Geroid T. Robinson. There are photographs of two actors from the Moscow Art Theater: Vasiliĭ Luzhskiĭ and Ivan Moskvin. The correspondence dates from 1879 to 1950 and includes some miscellaneous items apparently unrelated to Zolotarev. There are manuscripts by various authors on religious and political themes. The subject files include materials relating to several Russian emigre organizations, the White Navy, and Columbia University. Among the printed materials are booklets, journals, clippings and posters.

Frederick Zimmermann papers, 1933-1959

Abstract Or Scope

A collection of letters written to Zimmermann. Most of the letters relate to a group of German artists called "Der Blaue Reiter" ("The Blue Rider"). Zimmermann assisted in the planning for the exhibition of the group, held at the Curt Valentin Gallery, December 7, 1954-January 8, 1955, and much of the correspondence relates to the exhibition. Included are letters from Albert Bloch, David Burliuk, Mrs. Nina Kandinsky, Paul Klee, and Gabriele Münter. Also, important files of correspondence from John B. Flamagan and George Grosz.

The collection centers on Zierold's book, LITTLE CHARLEY ROSS, 1967, a re-examination of the first American kidnapping for ransom. Included are notes, research materials, illustrations, typescripts, proofs, reviews, and correspondence. Zierold has added the drafts, manuscripts, and typescripts of several of his plays and writings about Hollywood, including THE CHILD STARS, BABY MADGE, SWINGING FROM A CHANDELIER, DEATH IN HOLLYWOOD, THREE WOMEN IN BLACK, THE SEX GODDESSES, and NOT BEFORE BREAKFAST.
