The office files of the University Librarian's Office of Columbia University Libraries, 1889-1948, are composed is composed chiefly of correspondence sent and received between Columbia University Librarians, library staff, Columbia University administrators, and outside individuals and organizations, as well as related reports, budgets, as well as related reports, budgets, and administrative material concerning the history of the library.

This collection contains photographs and contact sheets of alumni, faculty and student life taken expressly for a 1980s admissions brochure, capital campaign brochures in the 1990s and the Columbia alumni magazine in the 1980s through early 2000s. Additionally, there are reproductions of photographs and illustrations dating prior to the late 1970s which were used in the magazine.

Black and white photographic prints and negatives, color prints and negatives, slides and transparencies documenting the activities of the School of Journalism, including students, faculty, administrators, visitors, and events.

Records of the University Senate, a governing body established by Columbia in 1969, consisting primarily of minutes, correspondence, reports, meeting agendas, and resolutions concerning various campus and academic issues. The records date primarily from 1969 to 2004 and are organized by committee or subcommittee and then arranged chronologically.

This collection contains the speeches of Seth Low. The material within the collection spans from 1878 to 1916 and contains Low's opinions on political (with an emphasis on municipal government), collegiate, and religious matters.

The Historical Photo Collection contains images of persons, events, and activities associated with Columbia College (1754-1896) and Columbia University (1896-).

This collection includes floor plans, maps, correspondence, reports and press clippings pertaining to Columbia University campuses and buildings. The bulk of the collection is divided by building name; general maps, reports and correspondence relating to the Morningside Heights campus are filed separately.

This is an artificial collection of diplomas and certificates awarded to people associated with Columbia University from its founding as Kings College in 1754. Some diplomas found in this collection were awarded to Columbia-related individuals by other institutions. Also includes certificates presented to individuals and to the University as an institution, usually for honorary purposes. Correspondence directly related to some of these honors can also be found in this collection.
