This bound manuscript "Adol'f Lazarev: Zhizn' i Poznanie" begins with an introduction by Nikolaĭ Berdi︠a︡ev, and then presents copies of articles by Lazarev on such topics as the philosophy of William James and on Lev Shestov. There are also copies of several letters exchanged by Lazarev and Shestov in the period 1926-1936. The name of the compiler of this manuscript is not given.

Two typescripts by Togan. The longer manuscript (88 p.) surveys the geography, ethnography, and history of Azerbaĭjan into the interwar period. The shorter (3 p.) discusses the derivation of the word "Azeri.".

Cataloged correspondence in the collection consists of letters from Petr Krasnov and one or two items each from Henry Field, Evgeniĭ Miller, Petr Wrangel, and Boris Zaĭt︠s︡ev. There are also photographic slides representing ethnographical types from the Caucasus.

The collection consists of correspondence from such ballet and theater personalities as Sergeĭ Khudi︠a︡kov, Sergeĭ Lifar,́ Nadezhda Nikolaeva-Legat, Alekander Sanin and Vera Trefilova. Most of the material in the collection concerns Nikolaev's tenure as military attachʹe at the Russian embassy in Washington. Cataloged correspondents include Mikhail T. Florinsky and Geroid T. Robinson. There is a typescript by Vasiliĭ O. Kli︠u︡chevskiĭ, "Kratkoe posobie po russkoĭ istorii." Among the correspondence are cablegrams and official communications to the Russian embassy during World War I and the revolutionary period. Manuscripts, mostly by Nikolaev, concern contemporary and historical military topics. Diaries and memoirs deal with Nikolaev's travels to Europe during World War I and his activities as military attachʹe. Among orders granted to Nikolaev is the "Order of the Sacred Treasure," signed and sealed by the Japanese Emperor Meiji (1911). Printed materials include many articles by Nikolaev.

The collection consists primarily of manuscripts by Bragin, including his memoirs, which describe his military service during the Boxer Rebellion, the Russo-Japanese War, World War I, the 1917 Revolution and the Civil War. The documents and subject file relate to his service as head of the White military mission to Iran in 1920. Printed materials are largely clippings from and copies of emigre periodicals, with articles by Bragin.

Brief manuscripts on the Russo-Turkish war of 1877-1878 in the Caucasus region, on military discipline, and on gymnastics in the military.

The collection is composed almost exclusively of manuscripts submitted to Gering for publication in "Voennai︠a︡ Byl"́. These are mostly short memoirs of battles and campaigns, of life in military school, or of peacetime garrison life, by former tsarist officers. These naturally relate chiefly to the last few decades of the tsarist regime, and to the period of the Revolution and Civil War. Some contributions are more scholarly in tone; these include articles on the earlier history of the Russian army and of individual regiments, etc. Few of the manuscripts are more than 40 pages long; most are 1-20 pages. Not all of these manuscripts were published in "Voennai︠a︡ Byl"́; those that were not formed part of Gering's "archive" and have been arranged separately.

The papers include correspondence, photographs, and articles written by I︠U︡zefovich on the defense of Port Arthur during the Russo-Japanese War. Also included are scrapbooks relating to his life and career; and printed material.

Manuscripts, proofs, and printed editions of Scheinfeld's books on human heredity, YOU AND HEREDITY, WOMEN AND MEN, and THE NEW YOU AND HEREDITY. Sketches and line drawings used as illustrations in the books are included. Also, manuscripts and clippings of his magazine articles; many examples of his comic strips, including "Dixie Dugan;" and correspondence and financial documents about his works.

Her memoirs recount her childhood and education in Russia as a member of a Baltic-German family, her life in Finland after the February Revolution, her service as a nurse in St. Petersburg during World War I, and as a member of a Red Cross mission charged with caring for prisoners of war in Kiev and Moscow during the Civil War. She also describes her arrest and imprisonment in 1919 as well as her brother's experiences in Li︠u︡bi︠a︡nka prison during World War II. The memoirs (416p.) are in the form of a carbon copy typescript and are accompanied by original photographs. Also included in the collection are reprints of several articles published by her husband, Helmuth Stegman, in the 1960's.

The collection consists of manuscripts and printed materials. The manuscripts include typed copies of magazine articles on military history, some of which are by Gordeev. The printed materials consist of a book by Gordeev entitled"Istorii︠a︡ kazakov. Zolotai︠a︡ Orda i zarozhdenie kazachestva" (Paris, 1968).

The collection consists of a letter from Elena Knipper dated 1943, clippings of an article by Moskalenko entitled "Narodzhenni︠a︡ formuly rozshyrenni︠a︡ skhidno-evropeĭskoĭ imperii" a memoir (14 p.) by Moskalenko about his meeting with the brother of Olǵa Chekhova-Knipper during the war, and a monarchist pamphlet.

Papers, letters, memoranda, memorabilia, and manuscript music scores assembled by and related to the life and musical activities of Anton Seidl. The collection includes many letters from Cosima Wagner and her children addressed to Anton Seidl and his wife, the opera singer Auguste Kraus Seidl. There are also letters from Lilli Lehman, Edvard Grieg, Antonin Dvorak, Bronislaw Hubermann, Carl Goldmark, Maud Powell, Marianne Brandt, Felix Weingartner, Lyman Abbott, and many others. The letters are chiefly concerned with musical performances, composition, and related affairs. There are journals, diaries, and memoranda in Seidl's hand, as well as photographs and clippings relating to his conducting career. Also, twenty-seven manuscript scores of Seidl's orchestrations of various works.

Correspondence, speeches, speech materials, news clippings, subject files, audio and videotapes relating to the professional activity of Arthur Levitt, Jr. The papers and audiovisual material deal primarily with his tenure as the Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (1993-2001), but also contain earlier records, including some materials relating to Levitt's school years at the Polytechnic Preparatory Country Day School and at Williams College, and his work at Hayden Stone, the American Stock Exchange, and the New York Economic Development Corporation, and his advocacy of the National Endowment of the Arts during the 1991-1992 funding controversy. These papers also contain materials relating to his father, Arthur Levitt, Sr., who served for 24 years as New York State Comptroller.

Correspondence, manuscripts, diaries, commonplace books, drawings, photographs, and printed materials. The collection is a comprehensive documentation of the dramatist's career and includes manuscripts, typescripts, notes, and costume and scenic design for more than seventy of his plays and related writings; 31 diaries, commonplace books, and scrapbooks containing manuscript and typescript notes, travel sketches, original drawings, and photographs; and correspondence files including letters from Harley Granville-Barker, Sir Herbert Beerbohm-Tree, John Galsworthy, Booth Tarkington, and Thornton Wilder. Austin Strong's mother, Isobel Field, was the step-daughter of Robert Louis Stevenson. Consequently, the collection contains much Stevensoniana, including photographs and Isobel Field's letters from Western Samoa, where she was known as "Teuila." Also, correspondence and photographs relating to Cornwall Park, Auckland, New Zealand, which was designed by Austin Strong.

There are letters from Russian emigre writers such as Mark Aldanov, Ekaterina Kuskova, Mikhail Osorgin, and Alekseĭ Remizov, and by western authors, including Henri Barbusse and Alexander Roda Roda. Manuscripts include memoirs, stories, and notebooks of Damanskai︠a︡. Printed materials consist of clippings of her articles, and one book by her entitled "Kartochnye domiki sovetskogo stroitelśtva" (1920).

Letters, manuscripts, documents, and printed materials by and relating to explorers of both poles. Many of the letters are addressed to Vilhjalmur Stefansson or Bassett Jones. The letters for the most part discuss subjects of professional interest. Thre are printed materials, photographs and memorabilia of many expeditions and explorers.

Correspondence, photographs, and printed material by and relating to Benjamin Disraeli. There are nine letters from Disraeli to various persons including Sir Charles Adderly, First Baron Norton; the Duke of Northumberland; and Sir Henry Edwards. The letters span the dates 1849 to 1879. Also included are two letters from Disraeli's father, Isaac D'Israeli, 1766-1848, to Stephen Weston, 1805, and Edward Moxon, 1833, and a post card from William Ewart Gladstone. A letter from William Lamb, 2nd Viscount Melbourne to Sir William Owen (1837) has been removed from an extra-illustrated edition of "The Letters of Runnymede" (London, 1836) and cataloged for the collection.

The material in this collection consists primarily of correspondence, writings, lectures and articles by and about Benjamin Graham dating between the 1930s and 1976. It also contains materials about Benjamin Graham's work and influence which were created after his death in 1976. This more modern material was primarily created by or collected by his friend and mentee, Warren Buffett. One can also find many articles and a correspondence file from Jason Zweig, a financial journalist who writes The Intelligent Investor column every weekend for The Wall Street Journal. Jason Zweig is also the editor of the revised edition of Benjamin Graham's The Intelligent Investor.

Bound typescript entitled "Bolshevism: The Great Conspiracy" (122 p.), by an unknown author. It attempts to document Communist and other leftist activities in the United States. Title on the hard cover: "The Menace: Compiled expressly for MacDonald Bros., Inc. W. S. [illegible] Secretary of the American Institute of Commerce."

Manuscripts and printed materials of Sokolov. There are two manuscripts of a religious-philosophical nature: "Pobedit li Galilei︠a︡nin?" and "Chto takoe Kosmopolitizm?". Also included is a compilation prepared by Sokolov "Skvernyĭ anekdot i pechalńyĭ ne anekdot" of his correspondence with the Institute for the Study of the USSR and Professor Philip Mosely, concerning Sokolov's attack on the policies of the Chekov Publishing House in New York. There are also several pamphlets by Sokolov.

The Bradley Commission on History in Schools Records contain the commission's administrative records and materials related to the process of creating and sharing guidelines for elementary and secondary school history education in the United States from 1982-1992. Many of these materials were created by Elaine Wrisley Reed, administrative director, Kenneth Jackson, chair, and the sixteen members of the commission. They include files related to the planning, staffing, and funding of the commission as well as correspondence and meeting minutes. The papers also contain surveys the commission drafted and distributed to teachers to collect data for the project. Teachers were surveyed on the history requirements at their school, the obstacles they faced, and recommendations to improve their field. The results of those surveys and the commission's conclusions are documented with drafts and final versions of two publications, as well as videos and other materials from two associated conferences.

Correspondence, minutes of meetings, financial records, publications, notes, subject files, awards, speeches, reports and audiovisual materials document work by the Church Peace Union, its successors Council on Religion in International Affairs and Council on Ethics and International Affairs, and related organizations such as the World Alliance for International Friendship Through the Churches. The first installment of the CCEIA archival materials came to the RBML in 1974, with numerous additions over the years. Correspondents include John Foster Dulles, Jane Addams, Fiorello La Guardia, and Paul Tillich. 1990 and 2000 additions includes files of CCEIA presidents and vice presidents, paper and audiovisual materials on Merrill House Conversation Programs; Educational programs; International Monetary Fund/Lecture series; The Annals Of The Academy Of Political & Social Science; Washington Consultations; Colloquia for the Clergy; Church State Project; Asian Development & The Carribean Initiative; Korea: Year 2000 Project; fundraising files, printed materials and files of the Department of Publications.

Manuscripts, subject files, index cards, printed materials and microfilms relating to the CATALOGUS TRANSLATIONUM ET COMMENTARIORUM. The two manuscripts are contemporary and deal with the letters of St. Basil. The subject files include correspondence, notes, and printed materials providing largely biographical information on a wide range of medieval translators and commentators. The index cards list the present day locations of many relevant medieval and renaissance books and manuscripts. The printed materials include photostatic copies and negatives of medieval texts as well as catalog listings of and articles about these texts and their authors. The microfilms, some of which are negatives, are of some of the relevant medieval and renaissance works

Papers include typed carbons of correspondence, memoirs, speeches, and biographical materials. The correspondence consists of letters to and from Crane, 1869-1939, and telegrams and letters to his wife upon his death. The memoirs include information on his diplomatic service and travels. The speeches, 1910-1930, are largely based on his travels and activities. There are diaries by other persons of his trips to Albania, Russia in 1921, and to the Near East. Finally, biographical materials include editorials, articles, and speeches. While a sizable amount of material concerns Russia, the collection includes information on his other activities as well.

Correspondence, manuscripts, notes, photographs, and printed materials of Mixer while he was Assistant Director of Columbia University Libraries. The letters deal with his career at Columbia and his other professional activities, chiefly his interest in insurance for libraries which includes his files for the Council on Library Resources-American Library Association Fire and Insurance Protection of Library Resources Project, 1960-1963, and the American Library Association Insurance for Libraries Committee, 1956-1963, of which he was chair. Also, a series of library accreditation evaluation reports, 1954-1962, which he prepared for the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools; and some photographs, printed materials relating to insurance for libraries, articles by him, and letters and manuscripts acquired through the Charles Wilson Mixer fund.

Correspondence, subject files, manuscripts and printed materials documenting the work of C. Martin Wilbur, George Sansom Professor Emeritus of Chinese History, Columbia University. Correspondence with non-Columbia organizations includes the Institute of Pacific Relations, Far Eastern Association, INDUSCO, Council on Foreign Relations, Asia Foundation, and American Council of Learned Societies, among others. Subject files relevant to Columbia University include items pertaining to the Department of Chinese and Japanese, later renamed the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures, as well as teaching files, student files and research projects directed. The manuscript files contain the notes and, in some cases, printed copies of published and unpublished works and public talks. Wilbur's writings and research concentrate on the history and politics of twentieth century China, with emphasis on the Chinese Revolution, 1920-1929, Sun Yat-sen, and communism in China. There are translations of minutes for the first and second Kuomintang Congresses, copies of documents from the Kuomintang Archives, and photographs of members of the Young China Party, Sun Yat-sen and several historical events in the 1920s. Files on fund raising efforts for the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures and the Wellington Koo Fellowship also contain relevant correspondence. The bulk of the Motley papers document her professional life. The papers include correspondence, manuscripts, memoranda, speeches, interviews, photographs, audio cassettes, and memorabilia.

There is also correspondence regarding her "English constitutional theory" and other professional and personal matters. There is also a manuscript copy of Schuyler's article"Some twentieth-century revisions in medieval constitutional history" and a small amount of printed material. Biographical information about Schuyler can be found attached to Weston's letter of 5 February 1961 to him.

Letters from George Santayana (1863-1952), with Lamont and others, a few early manuscripts, interviews and other notes on Santayana, and general correspondence about him. A series of letters from John Dewey to Lamont, discussing his ideas on humanism and religion. Extensive correspondence with the family of John Masefield including approximately 100 letters from Judith Masefield to Lamont, primarily written shortly after the death in 1967 of her father the poet John Masefield, and dealing with his life and work. Also, a few of her own writings; a number of the letters are descriptive of historical England and her concern for contemporary events. Among the letters from other family members are fifteen from Lamont's nephew, Jack Masefield, and 53 from his cousin Sir Peter G. Masefield, 1970-1983, conveying news about Judith as well as interest in the publication of John Masefield's letters from the World War I years and their continuing appreciation of Lamont's work on Masefield. There is discussion on the publication of Masefield's letters to Corliss' mother, Florence Lamont, printed in 1979.
