There are a number of major groups: late 19th century Russian revolutionaries; the wreck of Alexander III's train in 1888; Russian families in the early 20th century; nurses in Petrograd in World War I (Kononova); Aleksandr Kerenskiĭ at the front, 1917; St. Tikhon's Monastery in Pennsylvania; and American cultural and political figures in the USSR in the 1950's (such as Van Cliburn, W.A. Harriman, Richard Nixon, Carl Sandburg, and Isaac Stern).

Circulation register of the Russian Library in Lausanne, Switzerland (Lozannskaia Kolonial'naia Russkaia Biblioteka/Bibliotheque Russe, Lausanne), for late 1911-early 1914; on the binding of the book is written, "Zapis' vydachi knig abonentam." The register lists books checked out by readers, giving names and addresses of subscribers. Of some interest is the fact that some readers are noted as members of the Social Democratic and Socialist Revolutionary parties. Included with the register is the subscriber's card of a Mr. Kurilo.

The collection consists of correspondence, manuscripts, documents, a photograph, and printed material, primarily from the period 1941-1957. Included are letters from Ivan Bunin, Marc Chagall, Mikhail Karpovich, Vasiliĭ Maklakov, W. Somerset Maugham, Vladimir Nabokov, Ili︠́a︡ Repin, Edmund Wilson, Boris Zaĭt︠s︡ev and many others. Manuscripts of his works include "Istoki""Nachalo kont︠s︡a""Zhivi, kak khochesh"́, and "The Escape" (English translation of "Begstvo"), such shorter tales as "Noch ́v terminale""Povest ́o smerti", and "Ulḿskai︠a︡ noch"́, as well as numerous articles, book reviews and essays. There are financial records for "Novyĭ Zhurnal", which Aldanov helped found, and the clippings are mainly articles about Aldanov. There is one late photograph of Aldanov.
