The papers of Béla Király include personal and professional correspondence, manuscripts, and materials related to two organizations he was involved with, the Hungarian Freedom Fighters and the Program on Society in Change. The papers are from Király's time in the United States (circa 1957 to 1989).

The collection comprises the author's typescript of the short story "On for the Long Haul" that was submitted to, and later published by, Esquire magazine. The collection also contains some editorial correspondence related to the typescript, as well as the February 1985 issue of Esquire that contains the published story. This collection has been collected and assembled from numerous sources by the staff of the Rare Book & Manuscript Library.

Organizational records of the nonprofit Human Service Employees Registration and Voter Education Fund (Human SERVE), which advocated for Americans to have the opportunity to register to vote at government-run social services agencies. The collection includes records of Human SERVE's funding sources, organizational partnerships, and campaigns. There are also records of Human SERVE's involvement in the passage and implementation of laws on both the state and federal levels that resulted from the organization's advocacy work. The bulk of the state-level records are from New York State. Finally, there are internal records related to the organization's staffing, Board, and legal compliance.

Correspondence, papers, manuscripts, documents, photographs, and printed materials. Much of the correspondence concerns his American teaching and lecture engagements, primarily at the University of Louisville. There are also letters from his colleagues in France, including Françoise Van Rossum-Guyon, with a copy of her Introduction to an edition of Balzac's LE PÈRE GORIOT with Butor's critical letter for the publisher. There are critical and biographical manuscripts about Butor, and several printed works, each inscribed with a note by its author.
