The collection consists of (1) A group of early materials written between 1903-1905, before Rank met Freud. This includes 4 daybooks, a notebook of dreams, a notebook of poems, the manuscripts of "Der Kunstler;" (2) Correspondence between Freud and Rank between 1906-1924, including the controversy over THE TRAUMA OF BIRTH. 40 a.l.s. from Freud and typed copies from Rank, with a few letters to and from Ferenczi (3) Copies and some originals of the circular letters by members of the inner circle, Ernest Jones, Abraham, Eitingon, Ferenczi, Rank and Freud, 1920-1924 (4) Original handwritten manuscripts, typed copies, notes and corrections of Rank's major works (5) Rank's own listing and comments on his writings and publications (to 1930) (6) Rank's published works--20 titles.

Included are: correspondence with other writers, publishers, and friends; scripts and production files of her plays; and, manuscripts and drafts of her books and other poems, along with other related materials. Correspondence, playscripts, screenplays, scenarios, short stories, and other manuscripts, drafts, photocopies, contracts and other documents, tearsheets, clippings, and other materials relating to his career as a screenwriter, playwright, and author of short stories. Correspondence with friends, students, admirers, and professional colleagues concern his teaching, playwriting, films, articles, photography, and literary topics. There are also two groups of letters from students and readers about his textbook, "The Human Nature of Playwriting" (1949). Among the cataloged correspondence are William Gibson, MacKinlay Kantor, Anna Louise Strong, Louis Untermeyer, and Carl Van Doren. Included are manuscripts, drafts, or photocopies of almost all his films, plays, and short stories, such as playscripts and drafts of his plays, "The Jazz Singer" (1922), "Skylark" (1939), "Jason" (1942), and others; screenplays and scenarios, many in photocopy, of "Trouble in Paradise" (1932), "The Merry Widow" (1934), "The Shop Aroung the Corner" (1940), "Suspicion" (1941), "Heaven Can Wait" (1943), and many other films; and manuscripts, drafts, tearsheets, and printed copies of his short stories and articles of film and television criticism. There are also many clippings and reviews, programs, and other printed materials about his plays and films.

Correspondence, manuscripts, notes, documents, photographs and printed materials of Frank. The collection reflects almost every aspect of his career, but especially his life in Germany, France, and England after his expulsion from Russia in 1922. Among the correspondents are Nikolaĭ Berdi︠a︡ev, Sergeĭ Bulgakov, Albert Einstein, Georgiĭ Florovskiĭ, Nikolaĭ Losskiĭ, Fedor Stepun, and Petr Struve; there are one or two items each from Vi︠a︡cheslav Ivanov, Bernard Pares, and Alekseĭ Remizov. There are also many letters from Semen Frank and his wife Tati︠a︡na to their son Viktor, and from Peter Struve's family to the Franks. Manuscripts for several of Frank's books are in the collection, such as "Svet vo tḿe" "Realńost ́i chelovek" and "Biografii︠a︡ P.B. Struve." Other manuscript materials by Frank include essays and lectures, outlines of courses he taught as a professor in Russia before his expulsion, and notebooks. There are also two poems by Vi︠a︡cheslav Ivanov. Among the printed works are Frank's Bible and offprints of his articles. There are photographs of Sergeĭ Bulgakov, Fedor Stepun, and of the Frank and Struve families.

Professional correspondence, diaries, unpublished articles, lecture notes, abstracts, and other manuscripts by Mitchell. Subjects include economic theory and its history, business cycles, money, national planing, anthropology and psychology, and published material by Mitchell and others.

This small collection of correspondence, manuscripts, and printed materials is a part of her professional papers and includes draft chapters and notes for her doctoral thesis (History of the Columbia University Library, 1876-1926. New York, c1959) as well as a few items about teaching.
