Description

Scope and Content

Arranged alphabetically by Theatre name, the collection is made up of over 700 theatre programs and Playbills; included are some of the most prominent productions in the New York area during the 20th century. Often included in the programs are seating charts for specific theatres.

History / Biographical Note

History

Seymour B. Durst (1913-1995) was an American real estate investor and developer. While dedicating his professional life to commercial and residential real estate development, Durst had a personal lifelong passion for collecting published and archival materials on New York and its history, through architectural, cultural heritage and urban planning perspectives.
