Rivesaltes internment camp, Vichy France. Three young boys and a girl probably peeling potatoes. looking rather forlorn as they work over a large kettle, MS. One boy's head has been shaven. Original photograph bas caption on back: ·Children helping prepare a meal in a French concentration camp (Rivesaltes).· (Name of camp bas been added in in pen.) Varian Fry stamp.

"Rivesaltes internment camp, Vichy France. Probably (given that it appears to be part of a series of photographs taken in Rivesaltes, but no identification given and could be Ours). Male internee in shabby attire stands erect for the photographer, holding his tin can and what may be some food. Men in the b.g. are looking at the scene, some smiling. Caption: -Internee in a concentration camp in' unoccupied France. No clothing is provided and the men are obliged to wear what they have or what they can find. There are no knives, forks. Spoons or plates. Food is eaten out of discarded tins or on pieces of paper."
