Description

Scope and Content

Proofs, photographs, photostatic copies, and other printed materials of Roscoe. Included are proofs and illustrative materials for his book The Web Of Conspiracy; The Complete Story Of The Men Who Murdered Abraham Lincoln, and a printed copy of his book, Only In New England, a book of crime fiction.

1992 ADDITION: This includes some correspondence relating to the publication of his books and other writings on the assassination of Lincoln and the American Civil War: The Web Of Conspiracy, The Lincoln Assassination, and The Trent Affair. There are manuscripts, proofs, and illustrative materials; extensive research files for the first two titles mentioned above consisting of handwritten drafts and notes; handwritten and typed transcripts and photocopies of numerous 19th century American letters, manuscripts, diaries, and documents, as well as 20th century clippings, brochures, and ephemera on this topic used as background data for Roscoe's life long research and writing on Lincoln's assassination. In addition there are manuscripts with some related materials of other published and unpublished writings including Drama In Black, Only In New England, and To Live And Die In Dixie.

Author of 21 books of naval history, crime stories, and murder mysteries, as well as 400 short stories, and many television, radio, and film scripts. Roscoe was a Columbia University student from 1927 to 1929.
