History / Biographical Note

Historical Note

The Woman's Press Club of New York City was founded by Jane Cunningham "Jennie June" Croly (1829-1801) as a professional association for women journalists, authors, and "those engaged in similar pursuits." The Club sponsored lectures, journalism scholarships, literary and social activities, and civic projects for its members. It was disbanded in 1980.
