Biographical / Historical

Medical photographer who fled his native Germany when the Nazis took over in 1933. He moved to Paris and eventually was interned in Camp Le Vernet, near Marseilles. He came to the United States in 1941 with the help of Varian Fry and the Centre Americain de Secours in Marseilles.
