A collection of color photographs documenting major campus events for undergraduate students primarily from 2003 to 2004 collected by the Division of Student Affairs. Events include Columbia College and School of Engineering Class Day graduation ceremonies, Move-In Day for the freshmen class in August 2003, Columbia250th “Birthday Bash” in October 2003, Homecoming and Family Weekend, both in 2003.

Description

Scope and Content

This collection of color photographs documents major campus events organized or supported by the Division of Student Affairs from 2003 to 2004. Events include Columbia College and School of Engineering Class Day graduation ceremonies, Move-In Day for the freshmen class in August 2003, Columbia250th "Birthday Bash" in October 2003, 2003 Homecoming and Family Weekend in 2003. There are also two CDs containing slideshow images for Columbia College and The School of Engineering which were created for use in January 2008. An undated color slide of the Alma Mater statue is also included in this collection.

Many of the photographs were taken by University Photographer, Eileen Barroso and may be duplicated in a collection of her images found within the Office of Public Affairs Photograph Collection.

Series I: Student Affairs Photographs, 2003-2004 2008

Homecoming 2003 and Columbia College Class Day 2004 are housed in individual photo albums in Box 1. The other photographs are loose prints in files arranged in alphabetical order by folder title.

History / Biographical Note

History

The Division of Student Affairs (formerly known as the Office of Student Affairs and the Dean of Student Affairs Office) was created to assist Columbia College and Columbia Engineering undergraduate students throughout their time on campus and beyond. Supporting the academic missions of Columbia College and Columbia Engineering, Columbia Student Affairs develops programs and services that foster community, ensure a respectful and inclusive environment, and enrich the overall student experience at Columbia. It also provides support to parents, families, and alumni, as well as collaborates with other University offices.
