Biographical / Historical

Arnold J. Toynbee (1889-1975) was a British philosopher and historian, best known for his 12-volume analysis of Western civilization titled, "A Study of History, 1934-1961." Although institutionally unaffiliated with Union, Toynbee visited the U.S. on a lecture tour during which he gave the lecture in this collection.
