Correspondence, manuscripts, notes, and printed materials of Georgiĭ P. Benningsen, brother of E.P. Benningsen and, in the emigration, an associate of Vladimir Burt︠s︡ev. Much of the correspondence consists of letters to Georgiĭ Benningsen by Burt︠s︡ev (69 letters from the 1920s). Manuscripts include Benningsen's memoirs about Burt︠s︡ev, copies of Burt︠s︡ev's (apparently published) memoirs, and notes. Printed materials are chiefly clippings on various topics. There are also scattered issues of 1917 Russian newspapers ("Nash Vek," "Russkoe Slovo"), and an autographed copy of Burt︠s︡ev's 1919 edition of Griboedov's "Gore ot uma."

Manuscripts and documents relating to events in which Morris was a participant or interested party such as the Genet Affair and the "Lost Million" Affair; diplomatic correspondence with French ministers of foreign affairs, 1792-1794, and miscellaneous articles and reports by Morris, many on public finance and economics.

Especially noteworthy are five letters of Charles Dickens, bound together in one volume.

There are 570 letters from John Masefield and his wife to James Alexander MacLachlan, his wife Mary, and their children Howard James and Helen, 1916-1966, autograph poetry manuscripts, drawings, clippings, and 43 books presented by Masefield to Helen MacLachlan. Also, correspondence about the Theodore Roosevelt Association from Horace Marden Albright, Ethel Roosevelt Derby, Hermann Hagedorn, and others as well as correspondence from personal friends; and photographs of the MacLachlan family and friends.

Letters to Fletcher, including four letters from Richard Hughes, and twenty-five from Dorothy Leigh Sayers, mostly about the Dante editions which she bought from the Fletchers; seven letters from Samuel Beckett; and letters from the Sitwell brothers primarily concerning items purchased from the Fletchers: Osbert, 142 letters and postcards concerning books purchased, and Sacheverell, 168 letters concerning music covers, engraved writing paper, costume and ballet drawings, etc. purchased as well as books. Also, twenty-one letters and post cards from Eric Gill, who designed and printed a wedding announcement for Mr. Fletcher; and eighteen letters from Will Ransom, dealing with American and English publishers and bookdealers.

Forty-three letters to Witmark which were taken out of autographed books given to the University by Mr. Witmark. The letters are from leading authors and artists of the world, chief among them John Kendrick Bangs, Harry B. Smith, and Frederick Kummer. They are mostly friendly notes, some of them in connection with Witmark's requests that authors autograph books for his library. Also, eight manuscript music scores written by various composers including Victor Herbert for the wedding of Witmark and Viola Cahn; and printed matter including programs, clippings, and prospectuses, two autographed photographs, and a typescript catalog of the "Autograph Library of Isidore Witmark, Esq.".

A collection of Franklin Roosevelt letters, manuscripts, and documents including twelve letters written to his mother, Sara Delano Roosevelt, of a personal nature, and 24 letters written to a business associate, John B. Shearer. Signed typescript and mimeographed copies of the first three inaugural addresses are present in the collection as well as a valuable document"Biographical Notes for the Cyclopedia of American Biography" completed in the President's holograph on August 21, 1919. The most charming letter is the one written to his grandfather, Warren Delano, on August 23, 1896, when the President was fourteen years old and traveling through Germany. The books in the collection reflect a wide range of interests including religion, poetry, and history, and all are either signed or inscribed, including the seventeen copies of the President's own writings.
